By describing these invisible cities, Italo Calvino catches the soul of Venecia. The cities look to be far away from eachother, to have not geographic conection; however, a touch of odd inhabitants and unusual architecture joints them together. Invisible cities have the mistery and deep feeling of old cities where every single rock, piece of wood, wall, brick tells a story.
Either evolution or adaptation led people, in Invisible Cities, to behave the way they did.
Inhabitants from Armilla could not stand sharing their city with thirsty nymphs, people from Ersilia spanded their town as long as conections had to be established and Tickla had to be rebuilt everyday to avoid falling to pieces. All of them have their own specific characteristic; all of them are embellished with surrealism for who can not see through their eyes the wonders of reality.
